Press Release - September 2014
Willowbrook Cotton Company, brain child of Sue Green for the past 19 years, relocated to a new vibrant store in Design Quarter, Johannesburg. Specialising in babies bed time linen, they believe that a good night's sleep is essential for the well-being of babies and children and for that reason they manufacture all their products from 100% percale cotton.
You will find beautiful and unique cot linen ranging from sheets, duvets, bumpers, hooded towels, receiving blankets, to name a few. Now not only do they have a vast bed linen range, but the cutest ‘Little Willow’ brand evolved too, dressing little ones from newborn up to the age of 3. Everything is handmade and only the best cotton is used.
Sue plays around with samples of colours, fabrics and textures whilst experimenting with designs. “It’s not that easy to get colours right and designs need to be fiddled with, so it takes a long time before we eventually say – yes that’s it!!” says Sue.
They use a 200 thread count for their embroidered cot duvets and sheets and have recently introduced a cotton interlock which has a slight stretch for some of their duvets, fitted sheets and receiving blankets.
The advantages of using natural fibres are pure cotton is a breathable fabric and as such, has the ability to transfer moisture away from the skin. Cotton sheets feel cool to the touch on warm days yet will provide you warmth on chilly days. Being a hypo-allergenic fabric, it is ideal for those prone to allergies or skin irritations. As cotton is also soft to the touch, this makes it comfortable for the wearer. Using 100% cotton bed linen will mean it will withstand years of washing. Poly-cotton blends have a strong tendency to pull when washed frequently.
